MFA Thesis Exhibitions

Candidates for MFA degrees in Ceramic Art, Sculpture, Glass and Electronic Integrated Arts are featured in a series of culminating exhibitions.

Thesis shows are open to the public Sunday 1-3pm, and on Monday and Tuesday 11-4pm.  The final thesis show in the Fosdick-Nelson will be open during Senior Shows, May 5, 4-7pm and following Commencement, May 12.

Errant Landscapes

Four artists work in diverse ways with the visual lexicon around the genre of landscape. Using materials ranging from ceramics, print, painting, video, and textiles the artworks in this exhibition explore our human relationship to land and how we contruct a sense of place.

Eva Hild lives and works in the south-west of Sweden. With her organic sculptures she has established a position on the international art scene and is represented in important private and institutional collections world-wide. Three new exhibitions are opening simultaneously on October 19, 2017.

Holding the Line, ceramic sculptor Stanley Rosen’s (MFA Alfred ‘56) retrospective is revelatory. Rosen has long been a quiet visionary. His little known work from the late 1950’s, 1960’s and 70’s will astonish.

Queering Space at Alfred University

This exhibition asks: what is a queer perspective and how does queerness meet form. Originating at Yale University Queering Space and the curatorial team migrate to Alfred to expand the dialogue.
