As the societal/world pace quickens, I fear we will become disenfranchised from our inner knowledge, and thus capable of actions without responsibility. My goal is make work that triggers empathetic response.

The object work is conceptually driven, and materials employed in the work are chosen specifically for the associations that occur, through memory or sensory experience. The combination of specific material(s), concept, form and context can shift the "read" of the work, pushing the work of the metaphor further.

Recent work investigates non-traditional public spaces as venue. Text is mowed in fallow fields, targeting the audience of the window-seated in aircraft at altitudes of 25,000-30,000 ft. The height of each letter is the length of a football field (300’), the text is ephemeral and visible as long as mown regularly, the audience diverse, and I am anonymous. To the window seated, the sights below are geological, geographical, atmospheric, cultural, etc. These “sights/sites” can be extrapolated into thoughts about a myriad of topics…including: ownership/control, nature, culture, ecology, pollution, population, life/death, beautiful, sublime. All are topics not quantifiable, and all fall into the American landscape.
